County engineer Rye surprised by legislative body with award

At the Nov, 18 legislative body meeting, County Engineer Seth Rye was surprised with an award and lots of gratitude from Houston County.

Rye was inducted into the Tennessee Association of Utility Districts (TAUD) Hall of Fame on Aug. 6, 2025. Houston County presented an award of excellence, noting this major accomplishment and expressing the county’s gratitude for all Rye does in his capacity as the county engineer. Mayor Joey Brake said Rye is the best, and the county sure does appreciate all the work he does. Rye’s crew was also present, and they were thanked for their support as well.

In other business, the county legislative body approved six board of education budget amendments, three sheriff’s department budget amendments, the Danville Landing contract (work should be progressing on the site soon), and several resolutions to include a county resolution to transfer $29,100 to pay for the 7th Congressional District Election on Dec. 2, 2025…
