CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – A group of 181 faculty members at the University of Virginia are endorsing a call for the Rector and Vice Rector of the Board of Visitors to resign immediately.
The nearly 200 faculty members have sent a letter to UVA leadership, voicing their support for the Faculty Senate’s resolution calling for Rector Rachel Sheridan and Vice Rector Porter Wilkinson to leave their posts on the Board.
The document, which is featured in the Opinions section of the Cavalier Daily student newspaper, contends that “There is no way the University can move forward in a productive way so long as they are at the helm.” Citing a lack of transparency and accountability, signatories argue that Sheridan waited too long to release her account of former President Jim Ryan’s resignation under federal pressure, which directly clashes with Ryan’s own story, and that she “grossly fumbled” the situation with the Department of Justice…
