Charlottesville Grand Illumination implements new safety policies

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Charlottesville will host its Grand Illumination on Friday, December 5, but attendees should expect new safety policies for the beloved Christmas tradition that has run for almost three decades.

Those restrictions include:

  • No firearms, knives, or weapons allowed
  • No plastic or glass bottles or containers of any kind
  • No pets except service animals
  • No bikes, skateboards, or luggage
  • No fireworks or confetti

The event will require clear bags only, with one bag allowed per attendee. Medical exceptions will be made for the bag policy.
