Burger King Worker Killed While Breaking Up a Fight Between Customers

Tragedy unfolded when a Burger King employee tried to break up a fight between two old friends, only to end up getting shot and killed in the process.

According to News 4 Jacksonville, 18-year-old Matthew Jackson was working his Saturday night shift when a 33-year-old man, Ray Cummings Jr., visited the burger chain. Shortly after, the alleged shooter, 28-year-old Dawud Burritt, also visited the fast food restaurant. Cummings Jr. and Burritt were friends for about a decade, but they reportedly had a falling out about a year ago and hadn’t spoken since.

Trying to Make Peace Goes Horribly Wrong

Cummings Jr. recognized Burritt and walked over to him to shake his hand, but Burritt rejected the handshake. An argument broke out before the two started physically fighting. That’s when Jackson intervened to break up the fight, but Bruitt allegedly pulled out a gun and fired two shots, fatally hitting Jackson and striking Cummings Jr., who is expected to make a full recovery.

When police arrived, they found Cummings Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound and Jackson near the drive-thru window. Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene…
