Six UT Knoxville Professors Named Among World’s Most Highly Cited Researchers

Six faculty members from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, have been named to Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers list for 2025. This list includes scientists and social scientists whose published work ranks in the top 1% by citations over the past decade. The recognition is given to about one in 1,000 researchers worldwide.

Five of the recognized faculty are from the Tickle College of Engineering. One is from the College of Arts and Sciences. Deb Crawford, UT’s vice chancellor for research, innovation, and economic development, acknowledged the faculty’s contributions. She stated that their work advances their fields and enhances the university’s reputation.

Sheng Dai, a chemistry professor with a joint appointment at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has been named to the list for the tenth time. His research focuses on advanced materials for energy applications, such as ionic liquids, molten salts, and carbon transformations.
