Rochester, N.Y. — A Monroe County jury found a man guilty Tuesday of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted robbery in connection to a deadly shooting last year in the city’s Upper Falls neighborhood, according to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
Timothy Brooks, now 21, was with Raphael Marquez, who was 17 at the time, when Marquez shot James Jackson Jr., 39, as he was sitting in his vehicle parked on Cuba Place in Rochester Aug. 30, 2024, according to police. Jackson tried to drive away but crashed into a pole and was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he died shortly after arriving.
Police said Marquez was arrested Sept. 9, 2024, and Brooks was arrested five days later on robbery and grand larceny charges stemming from a June 29, 2024 gunpoint robbery on Upper Falls Boulevard…
