Homicide suspect killed himself during Santa Rosa standoff: PD

(KRON) — The homicide suspect who died during an early morning standoff with law enforcement in Santa Rosa on Nov. 23, took his own life, the Petaluma Police Department found during its investigation.

Law enforcement tracked the suspect, 56-year-old Lawrence Cassidy of Cloverdale, to a home on the 1500 block of Brush Creek Road in Santa Rosa at 1:26 a.m., after he allegedly shot a woman to death in Cloverdale on the evening of Nov. 22.

“Deputies and responding officers from the Cloverdale Police Department located an adult female victim suffering from a gunshot wound,” Petaluma PD said. “Despite immediate life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

‘Armed and dangerous’ homicide suspect found dead following standoff

Cassidy left the scene of the homicide in a white Ford SUV, and was briefly spotted in Healdsburg before police caught up with him in Santa Rosa. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team surrounded the home and prepared to arrest Cassidy, who was considered armed and dangerous.
