Sheriff urges safe driving during record Thanksgiving travel rush

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Officials at the Potter County Sheriff’s Office are emphasizing road safety as a record-breaking number of vehicles are expected to hit the roads this Thanksgiving.

With an additional 62,000 vehicles anticipated compared to last year, drivers are urged to stay vigilant.

Sheriff Brian Thomas advised, “If you’re traveling with a family and we get tied up in with the music and all that kind of stuff, you know, keep it down to a low roar, stay off your phone. Be extremely careful, get lots of rest, that’s the big thing, don’t block your windows, and you’re especially behind you with packages and stuff packed into windows and everything else, just drive safe, be careful, and slow down and just you know be aware of your surroundings.”…
