GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — Snow earlier this week threw a small wrench in some holiday travel plans, and a wintry event this weekend could make the trip home challenging as well.
The KARE 11 Weather Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert from midnight to midnight Saturday, due to an extended snow event that is expected to drop between 3 and 6 inches of light snow across a southern swath of Minnesota. The impacted area includes the Twin Cities, which could see closer to 3 inches, while counties closer to the Iowa border could receive 6 inches or more.
The snow will not be heavy and icy like the stuff delivered by Tuesday’s winter storm, but still has the potential to make roads slick. The heaviest snow in the metro is expected to fall during daylight hours on Saturday.
