SWEPCO is building a new service center complex in west Shreveport hoping that, when it opens in 2027, it will help the utility better serve its customers.
SWEPCO’s current service center on Union Street in Shreveport no longer meets the utility’s operational needs and lacks the room to expand, a representative said this week. By 2027, SWEPCO plans to have a new facility in west Shreveport up and running to replace it — and it’s expected to be a serious upgrade.
“The new facility will provide additional room to consolidate business functions, improve garage space and create larger laydown yards for equipment,” Region Communication Manager Amy Schlesing said in an email. “By consolidating key operations and positioning closer to the interstate, we can dispatch crews faster, reduce delays and enhance storm restoration efforts — all with the goal of delivering seamless service. At the same time, the facility supports our workforce with modern spaces and proximity to our linemen training school, ensuring they have the tools and training needed to serve the community effectively.”…
