ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — The lawsuit against the Albuquerque police chief who seriously injured a man during a crash is back on. In February of last year, Chief Harold Medina drove through a red light near downtown, t-boning Todd Perchert’s Ford Mustang and seriously injuring him.
Chief Medina said gunfire caused him to speed through the intersection. An internal investigation found Medina did not turn on his body camera after the crash, but the NMDOJ said there wasn’t enough to pursue criminal charges.
Perchert filed a lawsuit against Medina and the City of Albuquerque. It was dismissed last month due to lack of action from his lawyers, but a judge granted their motion to reinstate the lawsuit with a hearing to discuss the case in January…
