Each year, the Salvation Army hosts its Red Kettle fundraiser, which is a tradition that dates all the way back to 1891.
This year’s Red Kettles campaign began just two weeks ago; however, campaign organizers worry they’re off to a rocky start.

Tim Sharp, Salvation Army of Erie envoy, told us why volunteers are vital towards the fundraiser and meeting this year’s goals.
“We have 17 locations in Erie and we only have seven regular volunteers. We’ve had a few more people step up, so we are in desperate need of volunteers as this is our main fundraiser throughout the year,” he explained. “We are trying to meet the need in the community, not just Christmas but throughout the year and it is our neighbors, it is our families that we’re trying to help meet that need.”
