Meet Benson’s New Town Manager: Dane D. Rideout Begins Leadership Role

The Town of Benson, North Carolina, has appointed Dane D. Rideout as its new Town Manager. The Benson Board of Commissioners approved Rideout’s contract during a work session last Thursday. The appointment followed a search process that narrowed several candidates to two finalists, with help from a government recruiting firm.

Mayor Max Raynor said Rideout has a military background and experience in municipal management. Rideout served over thirty years in the Army, retiring as a Colonel in 2014. He has also worked in local government for more than ten years. His previous positions include City Manager of Bluefield, West Virginia, and Town Manager of Elizabethtown, North Carolina.

In Elizabethtown, Rideout worked on economic development, financial systems, and grant funding. He also oversaw infrastructure and community projects.
