U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a detainer on a Clermont woman who was stopped for driving without a license.
An officer stopped 50-year-old Jellue Handal Mejia at U.S. Hwy. 27 and Steve’s Road at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, according to an arrest report from the Clermont Police Department. He thought she might be the registered owner, later identified as her sister, who had a suspended license.
Even though this was not the case, Handal Mejia did not have a driver’s license at all. She hesitated to give the officer her full name but handed him her employment authorization visa card. She also advised that her appointment for a driver’s license was the next day, the report said…
