An Inverness man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after being stopped without a seatbelt on Main Street in Wildwood.
A deputy on patrol in Wildwood noticed 20-year-old Jordan Tyie Coyne was driving a red Kia sedan without wearing a seat belt around 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. There was also a crack on the driver’s side of the windshield.
Seeing this, the deputy checked the vehicle’s registration and learned Coyne’s license had been suspended due to multiple sanctions. These included two financial responsibility suspensions from Nov. 18 and Nov. 24. Further investigation revealed a revoked 60-month habitual traffic offender status dated Nov. 24, the report said.
The deputy subsequently stopped Coyne at East Main Street and Gulf Atlantic Highway. When asked about his license, he stated he made a payment on Oct. 1 and believed his license remained valid. He explained he had outstanding court fees but thought his October payment covered him for the month of November, the report said…
