Vero Beach nursing home hosts fundraiser for fallen sergeant

VERO BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — The community is continuing to mourn the tragedy in Indian River County, with a care center in Vero Beach hosting a Dine and Dash fundraiser today for fallen Deputy Terri Sweeting-Mashkow. She was killed during an eviction call last week, sending shockwaves through the county and beyond. Deputy Sweeting-Mashkow gave 25 years of service to the county, and communities across Southeast Florida, including one this morning in Okeechobee County, are holding vigils to honor her.

The fundraiser at Vero Beach Care Center offered chicken cutlets and pasta dinners to Vero Beach residents and the Mashkow family to support the loved ones of the deputy.
