The Equine Disease Communication Center has just confirmed a case of EHV-1 virus in a horse in Randall County. This case is associated with the EHM outbreak that originated at the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association World Finals and Elite Barrel Race event in Waco. Texas veterinarians reported this outbreak on November 5. Signs to look for in horses include fever, nasal discharge, coughing, and neurological issues. It is an aggressive strain of EHV-1.
