Turkey Day 5K kicks off Thanksgiving with charitable mission

BOISE, Idaho — About 6,000 people kicked off Thanksgiving Day by running a 5K through the streets of downtown Boise on Thursday, marking the 15th anniversary of the annual Turkey Day race.

“Every year there’s just more and more people,” said runner Josie Yovichin. “It’s just like, it’s bigger and bigger. So it’s like, awesome to see the show out from Boise.”

Race organizers said the growth reflects strong community support for the event, which has become a Thanksgiving tradition for many Treasure Valley residents…
