The indoor and outdoor dog park and bar has quickly become a standout for UB students over 21 years of age, looking for something more comforting than the typical nightlife scene.

Inside, the space feels more like a community living room than a bar. Soft flooring and open play areas stretch across the warehouse interior, while the fenced turf yard outside buzzes with the energy of dogs chasing balls and weaving between people. Part of Barkology’s pull is its therapeutic feel, a contrast to the fast pace of classes, jobs and city life.

The simple act of watching dogs sprint across the turf to fetch a ball or collapse dramatically at their owners feet has a way of softening the edges of a long week. It’s hard to hold onto stress when a tail wagging stranger trots up and decides you’re their new favorite person…
