A new tradition for Gainesville and Hall County’s runners and Thanksgiving enthusiasts has taken to the streets around Downtown Gainesville for the holiday morning.
The Gainesville/Hall County Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) members hosted their new road race, the Cops and Gobblers 5K and Fun Run from the historic Gainesville Square and along Prior and Candler Streets, Boulevard, and other side streets Thanksgiving morning. Over 500 participants hit the pavement before heading to their respective holiday dinner tables.
AccessWDUN was not only one of the numerous sponsors for this worth while event along with the Hasty Pope Trial Lawyers Law Firm, but WDUN’s own Bill Maine was one of the many participants to brave the chilly morning conditions to support the Gainesville/Hall County FOP’s charity event.
The Gainesville/Hall County FOP proceeds will benefit their Cops & Kids Program. The FOP’s Cops & Kids Christmas program fosters strong bonds between local law enforcement officers and the community by allowing officers to accompany underprivileged children on shopping trips, ensuring they receive Christmas presents and view police as compassionate allies. Selected through local schools and organizations, each child gets $250 to spend—half on necessities and half on gifts, often for family members—while the program promotes positive interactions, helping dispel negative impressions and build trust with officers…
