Local business brings holiday joy to veterans with stocking drive

As part of an annual tradition of nine years, a local business is spreading Christmas joy to local veterans.

From now through Dec. 5, Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation and Funeral Services is running its Stockings for Soldiers donation drive.

This donation drive benefits U.S. veterans who are currently nursing home residents, and the stockings they receive are often the only Christmas gifts they get.

One organizer, Karen Burton Horstman, explained how you can help out.

“Now we collect stockings for about 600 veterans this year that we’ll be delivering to the local nursing homes. And we deliver them, and then they have, like, a party and distribute the stockings to the soldiers,” Horstman said. “There’s lots of ways that people can help. They can bring items in that are on our, you know, wish list, or they can pick up a stocking and fill it themselves and bring it back to us.”…
