Upcoming Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission Meeting to Address Local Hunting, Fishing, and Wildlife Regulations

The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission will hold its next quarterly meeting on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. The meeting will take place in the Schaff Room at the Salato Wildlife Education Center on the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources campus in Frankfort. The meeting is open to the public. Those who cannot attend in person can watch a livestream or view a recording on the department’s YouTube channel. A link to the livestream will be posted on the department’s homepage before the meeting.

The agenda includes approving minutes from the previous meeting on September 19, 2025, and considering amendments to several Kentucky Administrative Regulations. These amendments relate to waterway safety, fishing limits, and wildlife management. The commission will review proposed changes to waterway safety rules, including defining areas for wakesports. It will also consider updates to fishing regulations for Black Bass, Shovelnose Sturgeon, and Skipjack Herring, as well as changes to the Fishing in Neighborhoods (FINs) Program.

The commission will discuss a proposal to add nine counties—Pulaski, Wayne, Whitley, McCreary, Lincoln, Laurel, Rockcastle, Russell, and Casey—to the Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Surveillance Zone. This would introduce new regulations in these areas. The commission will also review rules about commercial activities on Wildlife Management Areas, including a proposal to prohibit for-profit hunting guides and clarify that fishing tournaments at WMA boat ramps are not considered commercial activities…
