LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Leestown Road saw major delays this morning after a significant gas leak forced emergency crews to shut down both lanes of traffic in Lexington.
Around 8:45 a.m., firefighters and Columbia Gas crews responded to a large natural gas release coming from a high-diameter line, necessitating safety precautions in the surrounding area.

District Chief Robert Forehand said crews quickly isolated the roadway while determining how far the gas had spread.
“We responded to find a large-diameter gas line emitting a large amount of natural gas. We immediately isolated this line of traffic and determined, with the help of Columbia Gas, that we should do both lanes until we could get an idea of how big of a problem we had.”…
