San Francisco Murderer Keonte Gathron to Receive Life Without Parole Plus Additional 31 Years for 2019 Crime Spree

Keonte Gathron, the man convicted for the brutal murder of 88-year-old Yik Oi Huang, along with numerous other violent crimes, is slated to receive a life sentence without the possibility of parole plus 31 additional years, as indicated by Judge Eric Fleming. San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins underscored the finality of the sentence, stating, per the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, “Mr. Gathron is now being held accountable for his heinous crimes that targeted vulnerable victims and will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole.”

San Francisco Police Sergeants Francis Feliciano and Carmichael Reyes were instrumental in solving the case, leading to the conviction of Gathron on November 4, for first-degree murder, and additional counts of robbery, kidnapping, carjacking, burglary elder abuse and child endangerment, stemming from a 13-day crime spree in January 2019 which involved mostly Asian victims, many of whom were elderly or juveniles, and spoke little to no English, according to ABC7News.

Assistant District Attorney Nathan Quigley, who prosecuted the case, expressed hope that the sentence would bring some solace to the victims and the family of Ms. Huang, saying, per the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, “No verdict or sentence could ever fill the hole left when a loved one is taken from us violently” and emphasizing the office’s commitment to justice for all residents of the city, regardless of background. Gathron’s crimes not only included the murder of Huang, who was attacked during her morning walk at a park and later succumbed to her injuries, but also home invasions and attacks on other individuals…
