Surviving a Thanksgiving Day Accident: A Tribute to First Responders

On Thanksgiving day 2017, a couple was driving on I-17 to their sister’s house when they suddenly veered off the road. The accident, which occurred near Anthem on a straight stretch of road, resulted in the vehicle rolling over. Despite the severity of the accident, the couple survived with serious but not permanently debilitating injuries. They attribute their survival to the immediate response of civilians with medical training and the EMTs from Daisy Mountain who were on the scene. The cause of the accident remains unknown, but a possible over-inflated tire is suspected.
