Brazilian actor and voice artist Tony Germano, known for his work on popular animated series for Netflix and Nickelodeon, has passed away at the age of 55. Germano died on Wednesday, November 26, after a tragic fall from the roof of his new home in São Paulo.
According to a statement released to People by a representative for Germano, “It is with deep sorrow that we confirm the passing of actor and voice artist Tony Germano on the morning of Wednesday, November 26. Tony suffered a fall at his residence and, unfortunately, did not survive his injuries.” The statement went on to request respect and understanding for his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time, highlighting Germano’s “legacy of dedication, generosity and immense talent.”
Reports indicate that Germano was inspecting repairs on the roof of his recently purchased home when the accident occurred.
A memorial service for Germano was held on Thursday, November 27, at the Bosque da Paz Cemetery in Vargem Grande Paulista, with a burial scheduled to follow.
Germano’s career spanned over three decades, encompassing a wide range of theatrical performances, film roles, and extensive voice work. In Brazil, he was a celebrated figure on the stage, appearing in major productions such as The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Jekyll & Hyde, and Fiddler on the Roof.
His voice acting talents brought characters to life in Nickelodeon’s Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, Netflix’s Go, Dog, Go!, and Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. His recent film credits include the upcoming 2025 release Labyrinth of Lost Boys, directed by Matheus Marchetti.
Marchetti shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, describing Germano as a “father figure” on set and expressing gratitude for their creative partnership, which he felt “seemed like it was going to last forever.” Fellow actor Miguel Falabella also posted on Instagram, remembering Germano as “an impeccable professional, a dear friend, a talented actor” and reflecting on their collaborations in productions like Annie and Man of La Mancha.
Germano was not married and did not have children.
