Father hopes increased reward brings answers in son’s unsolved killing one year later

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – While many families across central Alabama spend Thanksgiving weekend gathered with loved ones, one Jefferson County family is marking a painful anniversary: one year since 20-year-old Jaden Jones was killed.

Jaden’s father, Michael Jones, says the past year has brought grief, frustration, and a difficult search for answers. He said investigators initially gave him a sense of progress after first reaching out to WBRC, but the momentum faded.

“It’s been a year on the 30th. And it’s just some things that they should have done that they told me would take… they gave me a timeframe and nothing’s really happened in that timeframe,” he said…
