Dexture Smith gets life sentence for Reginald Blackmore murder

DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — On Monday, Nov. 17th, a Superior Court trial began in Kenansville for Dexture Shyheme Smith, age 28, of Roseboro. Smith was found guilty of the murder of 51-year-old Reginald Lamont Blackmore, of Faison, that occurred back in Aug. of 2022.

On Wednesday, Nov. 26th, the jury in this case found Smith guilty at trial of First-Degree Murder under each theory of Malice, Premeditation and Deliberation and Murder Committed pursuant to the Commission of a Felony.

Smith was sentenced to Life Without the Possibility for Parole for First-Degree Murder, followed by a minimum of 6-8 years for Burglary, and a minimum of 1-2 years for possession of a Firearm by a Felon. These sentences will be served in the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections…
