Protestors gather to support small businesses during Black Friday

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — While hundreds of Michiganders are hitting the mall for Black Friday deals, less than a dozen protestors stood outside the southbound 127 intersection near the Frandor Shopping Center to encourage passersby to shop local.

Kimberly Smith, organizer and protestor for the Lansing Bridge Brigade, an effort to support small businesses on Black Friday, says shopping locally helps the community’s economy.

“What is spent in a small business stays in the community,” said Kimberly Smith.

Smith says she’s done all she can to be vocal and adamant in her boycott against large corporations…
