Winter storm set to cause major travel delays this weekend

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A significant winter storm is on the way. Some areas may receive up to 8 inches of snow.

The good news is that the worst of this storm will happen Saturday evening into Sunday morning. That is typically a lower-end travel period. Since it is a holiday weekend, however, travel may be higher than normal. Below are several images from the Weather Center that help illustrate what we expect to happen. Plan on significant travel delays from late Saturday into Sunday morning. Winds shouldn’t be a big factor, so blowing and drifting shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Here is the total snowfall expected from Saturday afternoon until Sunday evening. Some areas could pick up an extra inch where bands of heavier snow set up.
