Shopping local in East Nashville fills gift bags and fuels the community

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — As East Nashville gears up for the holiday season, local business owners are reminding shoppers that buying local has a bigger impact than they realize.

Jennifer Kite opened The Getalong in 2019, along Fatherland Street, transforming a nearly 100-year-old building into a collective space for small, locally made brands.

She said the neighborhood’s sense of community is what drew her to East Nashville in the first place.
