Philadelphia has seen the resolution of a series of violent crimes that occurred during the summer of 2023. Khalil Dickens, 22, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for his involvement in multiple armed carjackings and robberies. U.S. Attorney David Metcalf announced the sentence, which follows Dickens’ guilty plea earlier this year to charges including conspiracy, carjacking, and brandishing a firearm during these incidents, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Between June and July 2023, Dickens was involved in seven armed carjackings, one attempted carjacking, and multiple gunpoint robberies in Philadelphia. Court records indicate that the incidents included acts of violence against victims, including threats with firearms. “We simply will not permit dangerous criminals to run around our city terrorizing innocent people,” U.S. Attorney David Metcalf said in a press release.
