Virginia Tech dean hosts Thanksgiving meal for 600 students

BLACKSBURG, VA. (WFXR) – For the first time, an annual Thanksgiving meal hosted by Virginia Tech’s College of Science Dean Kevin Pitts and his wife, Toni, opened its doors to every student on campus.

“Our first year here, we did an event that was rather small for about 50 students,” said Pitts. “And each year since, now this is our fourth year, it’s grown to what this year will be, roughly 600 students.”

The couple launched the event shortly after arriving at Virginia Tech, hoping to create an inviting space for students who couldn’t travel home for the holiday…
