Bahama Way Knife Ambush: San Jose Cops Bust Four In Gang Case

What started as a late-summer street confrontation on Bahama Way has ended with four arrests, after San José detectives spent months unraveling what they describe as a gang-motivated assault case.

San José police said Thursday that four suspects, ages 19, 18, 16 and 14, have been taken into custody in connection with two attacks in late August. One of those incidents was an Aug. 24 confrontation on the 1500 block of Bahama Way, where one suspect allegedly pulled a knife and tried to stab a man in the neck. The victim bolted, hid nearby until the group left, and officers later carried out arrests on Nov. 20 after detectives obtained and served search warrants earlier this month.

According to the San José Police Department, Gang Investigations Unit detectives secured arrest and search warrants and tracked the suspects to locations in both San José and Santa Cruz. The department says the 19-year-old suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on multiple counts, including gang-motivated assault with a deadly weapon and robbery.
