A Villager is facing a forgery charge in connection working as a vendor at town square events.
Kenneth Fergus McDonald, 58, who lists his mother’s address in the Sunnyside Villas in the Village of Woodbury, was arrested earlier this month by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies on a Marion County warrant charging him with uttering forged instrument.
McDonald is the operator of Forever Wood Memories, which specializes in creating wooden memories for veterans and first responders.
McDonald had applied in 2024 to be a vendor at town square. He filled out the paperwork, but was informed by the The Villages Entertainment Department’s special events coordinator that he needed to provide paperwork to prove that he was carrying general liability insurance, according to a report from a detective with the Florida Department of Financial Service Bureau of Insurance Fraud. McDonald used the online system to provide the documentation. He presented a certificate of insurance which showed a date range of Sept. 17, 2024 through Sept. 17, 2025. However, it was determined that the formatting was inconsistent and that, ultimately, the certificate of insurance was a fraud.
