SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Winter weather is starting to impact several parts of the state Friday afternoon and is expected to last late into Saturday night.
Here’s the latest snowfall amounts, road conditions and closelines.
Snowfall totals
The amount of snow will vary by different locations. Northeastern and south central South Dakota are in a winter weather advisory. Northwestern and southeastern South Dakota have been upgraded to a winter storm warning.
Snow and blowing snow likely the next 24-36 hours in KELOLAND
According to the KELOLAND Live Doppler HD Storm Center, southeastern South Dakota and southwestern Minnesota are expected to get between 5 to 10 inches of snow. Northwestern Iowa is set to receive 8 to 12 inches.
Blowing snow will impact travel across the region. Winds will be from the southeast or east Friday afternoon, but strong northwest winds will worsen as the day progresses into Saturday evening. While not expected to be at blizzard levels of wind, it will still make traveling difficult.
