November raises awareness for gestational diabetes

UPPER MICHIGAN, Mich. (WLUC) – November is not only home to Thanksgiving…it’s also Diabetes Awareness Month.

In raising awareness, much of the conversation turns to type one and type two diabetes. But there’s another type of diabetes diagnosed during pregnancy. It’s called gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes affects around fifteen percent of pregnant women in the United States.
