Passenger with variety of narcotics busted during traffic stop

An Astatula woman was arrested on drug charges when deputies found a variety of narcotics within her reach during a traffic stop.

Deputies stopped a blue GMC utility vehicle with an obstructed license plate at South Lone Oak Drive and Butler Street in Leesburg at 1:35 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. While they asked the male driver for documentation, the passenger, 29-year-old Selena Korren Perry, asked to use the restroom.

The deputies instructed her to stay in the vehicle before asking if she had a driver’s license. She responded no, giving her name and date of birth instead. The driver then denied his consent for the vehicle to be searched, the report said.

However, a K-9 positively alerted to the odor of narcotics, and the vehicle was searched regardless. A black cloth bag labeled “Sway tm” was discovered on the passenger seat where Perry’s left leg was next to the center console. Inside was a Raw tin with a clear bag of fentanyl, a blue bag of more fentanyl and a clear bag with a tizanidine hydrochloride pill, the report said…
