Winter weather advisory issued for western North Carolina

(WSPA) – A chance of freezing rain and ice has prompted a winter weather advisory in western North Carolina.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 1 a.m. – 9 a.m. Sunday for Burke, Caldwell and McDowell mountains, as well as Mitchell and Yancey counties.

Forecasters are expecting freezing rain overnight into the early morning hours, which create a potential for power outages and slippery roads, bridges and sidewalks…
