From Fox 17 Weather Ready Meteorologist Terri DeBoer: Widespread snow will become heavier this evening and tonight as a large and moisture-laden winter storm system moves through the region. Travel conditions have deteriorated quickly today with roads becoming snow-covered and very slippery. A WINTER STORM WARNINGremains in effect through midday Sunday. With the long-duration nature of the snow, totals from this system will be 6-12″ area wide, and travel will be difficult not just in West Michigan, but across the Great Lakes and Upper Midwest regions. This system is also impacting air travel. Here is the link to the Real Time Flight Tracker at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, which has already started to show multiple delays and cancellations on some regional flights. Expect significant delays for post-Thanksgiving travel. Next work week features more cold days with highs at or below freezing, with a several periods of lake effect snow showers.
