Deputies: 107 people evacuated from Amtrak train near Marshall

MARENGO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — 107 people were evacuated from an Amtrak train near Marshall Thursday night after it became stuck, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

It happened around 8:42 p.m. when the Detroit-bound train lost engine power and became stuck in poor weather conditions, deputies said. It took several hours to evacuate the train.

Passengers were taken by school buses to the Amtrak station in downtown Battle Creek. Remaining passengers were transferred to a second train that arrived at the scene, deputies said…
