Metropolitan Police Department establishing two juvenile curfew zones this weekend

The Metropolitan Police Department is enforcing temporary juvenile curfew zones in the U Street Corridor and at Navy Yard this weekend to prevent youth rowdiness.

The zones will be in effect from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., District police said, on Saturday and Sunday, and are established where “large groups of youths are gathering or intend to gather in a manner that poses a risk of substantial harm to public safety.” The ongoing citywide curfew for juveniles runs from 11 p.m. through 6 a.m. the next day.

The Navy Yard curfew zone is bounded in the north by District Interstate 695, to the east by Eighth Street SE, to the south by the Anacostia River and to the west by South Capitol Street SE…
