HONOLULU (KHON2) – People are picking up paintbrushes today at the Kalanimoku Building, where the public is being invited to help bring a new community mural to life.
The mural is taking shape inside the building’s basement parking garage, turning a plain space into a shared art project. Leading the effort is Solomon Enos, the Artist-in-Residence for the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, which works alongside the Department of Accounting and General Services.
The design features an abstract pattern meant to reflect connection, movement, and community. Enos says the vibrant colors also draw inspiration from the Hawaiian Islands and their natural ecosystems, helping the artwork feel rooted in place…
