Mayor honors Bob Thompson for his contributions to Medina

MEDINA, Ohio – Longtime resident Bob Thompson is preparing to embark on a new chapter of his life in Georgia, but Mayor Dennis Hanwell recently took time to remind him of the lasting impression he will leave on Medina.

Hanwell presented Thompson with a special proclamation during the Nov. 24 council meeting and listed the multiple ways Thompson has served the community over the years including as the vice president of the Salvation Army Board and member of the organization’s finance committee. He also volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, planning commission, archive commission, Project LEARN, Friends of the Medina County Park District, charter review commission, Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce, Hope Recovery, Medina Employment Network, Kiwanis, Oddfellows and the Hands Foundation. He was also the founder of Leadership Medina County Legacy Leaders Program.

“Mr. Thompson has been a dedicated and deeply involved member of the Medina community exemplifying the highest ideals of service and citizenship,” Hanwell said. “He continues to uplift and support others with compassion and integrity, and we recognize Bob Thompson for his outstanding leadership, service and friendship to the community as he embarks on a new chapter of life in Georgia.”…
