Creedmoor board to consider donation of property for recreation complex

Granville County has asked the city of Creedmoor to donate nearly seven acres next to the former Hawley School property to become part of the planned recreation and community center at the site.

County officials plan to develop the former school site into a a recreation and community center that will continue to bear the name of the Rev. G.C. Hawley, a prominent 20th century Black educator and church and community leader.

At the Nov. 18 meeting of the Creedmoor Board of Commissioners, County Manager Drew Cummings asked the board to consider donating two tracts of land adjoining the former G.C. Hawley Middle School property located off Brassfield Road for a future Granville County Recreation Campus…
