Sac State Planetarium offers free admission for kids, students

The Sacramento State Planetarium hosts monthly public shows for families seeking an educational weekend outing, with general admission priced at $5 while children 12 and under and Sacramento State students receive free entry.

The state-of-the-art facility features a 40-foot diameter dome with 120 seats and uses two ultra-high-definition projectors coordinated by five computers to create 360-degree viewing experiences. Shows run 60 minutes and are typically hosted by faculty from the Department of Physics and Astronomy on one or two weekends per month, with schedules posted at the beginning of each month on the planetarium’s website and through its email list and social media channels.

K-12 teachers can book field trips for groups of 20 to 90 students through the planetarium’s online reservation system, with morning and afternoon slots available five days a week…
