Pedestrian suffers life-threatening injuries in San Ysidro collision

SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — An 83-year-old man was critically injured Saturday after being struck by a vehicle in San Ysidro, authorities said.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision happened on the 200 block of East San Ysidro Boulevard after a 71-year-old man exited the freeway and was driving westbound in a 2011 Jeep Liberty.

Investigators say the pedestrian was crossing mid-block to the south when he stepped into the path of the Jeep and was hit. He sustained sever injuries, including a pelvic fracture and a brain bleed. The man was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
