Cyber Monday can still support local businesses, retail expert says

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Cyber Monday is almost here, and while sales often seem to run together these days, there are still some deals to get on Monday.

Some national retail experts advise that discounts this year may not be as deep because of tariffs, which could affect items like clothes, shoes and toys.

NBC interviewed Erik Guzik, an assistant clinical professor of management and entrepreneurship at the University of Montana College of Business. He said, “In the past, we may have expected a 40% – 50% discount, but this year, 20% – 30% may be what we need to consider quite good, especially in areas that have been targeted by tariffs, like clothing, footwear, toys and electronics.”…
