CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The First Alert Storm Team has declared a First Alert Day today due to accumulating snow affecting travel.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning that will expire tomorrow morning.

Here is a look at current road conditions.

The snow will continue through this evening and into the overnight hours, likely causing travel disruptions. If you need to be on the roads today, drive carefully and give DOT crews space. If possible, avoid traveling tomorrow, as the snow is expected to clear out during the early hours of Sunday.

Temperatures today, in the upper 20s to low 30s, will make the snow wet and heavy. Try to clear snow from your driveway multiple times today and consider helping neighbors who are unable to shovel themselves. Once the system passes, much colder air will follow. Sunday temperatures will be in the low to mid-20s, with highs remaining in the upper teens and 20s throughout the week. This means the snow that falls today will linger for some time. There is also a chance of more snow on Monday and Wednesday this week…
