Prepare for Bitter Cold Temperatures on Sunday

LUBBOCK, TX (KLBK) – KLBK Meteorologist Leah Rodriguez has your Saturday evening weather update for November 29, 2025.

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Low of 23°. Winds from the NE 10-20 MPH.Tomorrow: Partly cloudy. High of 37°. Winds SE 10-15 MPH, gusts near 25 MPH.

TONIGHT:

A Weather Aware Day is in effect for Sunday because of the very cold temperatures that are expected to take over tonight. Morning lows will fall into the teens and twenties, with wind chills feeling a couple of degrees cooler. Now, these winds chill may not be too different throughout the night because winds will become fairly light. We’ll have speeds fall from the 20s this evening to closer to 10 MPH by sunrise. Clouds will also build tonight, but rather than acting like a blanket, the cloud cover will have no effect on the shallow Arctic air that will continue filtering in tonight.

SUNDAY:

We expect tomorrow afternoon’s high temperatures to only warm into the 30s. Winds will become breezier in the afternoon with speeds out of the southeast around 15 MPH and gusts around 20 MPH. This will make wind chills feel like they will not move out of the 20s. So if you need to go out tomorrow, dress for subfreezing temperatures all day.

EXTENDED FORECAST:

After our big cold front today, we have two more fronts we are anticipating on Monday afternoon and late Wednesday evening. These fronts will help keep our temperatures mostly below average until about Friday. By the end of the week, we’ll get some warmer temperatures returning to the forecast. Just note that all the cold fronts stem from Arctic air, which is typically very dry. That means it’s going to be really hard to squeeze out any type of precipitation in the coming days. There is a very small chance of seeing a few snowflakes on Thursday, but these would only occur in our Southern Texas Panhandle counties.
